Gov. Patrick backs Chamber's top priorities for economic growth

Speaking to the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, Gov. Deval Patrick looked forward to breaking ground on two of the Chamber's key economic development projects: the East-West Parkway that will open up development of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station, and the widening of Route 139 in Marshfield to allow for significant new commercial and residential development there.

After years of delay, Gov. Patrick said he was optimistic that agreement with the Navy will be reached soon to transfer the remaining 800 acres of the air base to the agency in charge of redeveloping the base.

Gov. Patrick also voiced his unequivocal support for maintaining commuter ferry service to Hingham and for the tax credits that are encouraging the film and video industry to produce in Massachusetts.
