Involvement Opportunities

Ambassadors - This group of volunteers plays a vital role in introducing the Chamber to area businesses that share the organization's commitment to enhancing the South Shore's business climate. Ambassadors also help new members become acquainted with the organization, its members, its programs, and its activities.

Business Councils - Chamber members meet regularly in their own communities. The business councils provide an excellent opportunity for members to meet with their local officials and to present a strong business voice on local issues. Business councils have been active on matters such as tax classification, zoning, traffic, education, and business regulations. There are business councils in Abington, Braintree, Hanover/Norwell, Hingham, Holbrook, Milton, Randolph, Rockland, Quincy and Weymouth.

Communications Committee - Communications professionals representing large and small firms and a wide range of disciplines help the Chamber to maintain strong ties with current and prospective members and to represent the interests of business to the South Shore community.

Inclusion Initiative - The Diversity Committee helps the South Shore Chamber of Commerce reach its goal of increasing the diversity of the organization's membership and leadership. It develops programs to develop better ties between the South Shore's newer populations and its business community.

Government Affairs Committee - The South Shore Chamber of Commerce has long been recognized as a leading advocate for business in Massachusetts. The committee helps define and direct the Chamber's lobbying and advocacy strategy.

Human Resource Group - Human resource professionals from member firms meet regularly to network and to share information about training, benefits programs, legal matters and other human resource issues. The Human Resource Group sponsors a job fair each spring for member firms. All chamber members with an interest in HR issues are welcome.

Women's Business Connection - The WBC supports participation of women in business through active membership in the Chamber. The WBC provides professional development and networking opportunities at seminars, "HI Teas," an annual conference and other programs. All members of the Chamber are welcome to participate in all WBC events.
